Alleviate Parental Stress, depression and anxiety with our one-on-one coaching and counselling sessions

Are you feeling overwhelmed by parenting?

Are you feeling stuck on how to handle your child’s behaviour?

Do you find parenting is like an emotional roller coaster for you? Loving it one day, hating it the next. Feeling tired, angry, guilty, resentful, depressed, anxious or generally stressed?

We have lots of programs that can help you with all of the above, however sometimes it’s just better to have someone work with you one-on-one – to help you to learn how to handle your personal challenges with parenting individually

If this is you, we can help.

What’s the difference between parental coaching and counselling?

Often these words are used interchangeably, but can differ in meaning from one person to another.

You might be a client who just needs a little direction, some strategies, some outside perspective and to work together with a parental coach to reach a desired outcome. This requires a more practical approach to the challenges you face.

You might be a client who needs some deeper understanding of what causes your emotions, how to resolve past issues that are effecting how you parent, and need help to feel more at ease with your parenting. You might be a parent who wants to deal with your parental stress, depression or anxiety, so we would counsel you through that first and then work on any strategies you may want to implement.

The good news is….

We do both! Every client is different and we integrate both counselling and coaching approaches when we help parents. You will often hear Jackie Hall say that whenever we are dealing with an issue with your child you are always talking about two issues – you and your response, and them and theirs, and we always need to work on these two topics separately.

This is what you’ll get when you work with the Parental Stress Centre one-on-one. We’ll help you feel more relaxed about parenting, and still deal with the challenges you’re facing with your children.

How can the Parental Stress Centre help me?

Our focus is always on how we can give you the most information and effective strategies for change, in the least amount of sessions.

We will tailor our sessions to your learning style and give you homework to do, to apply what you have learnt. This is important, because you want to practice utilising your knowledge or skills so we can fine tune them as we continue.

Our intention is always to empower you to be able learn and utilise learnt skills to be able to handle the challenges of parenting without needing ongoing, expensive sessions.

You can have your sessions casually, weekly, fortnightly or monthly if you want to space them out.

3 Ways we are different from traditional counselling/coaching sessions?

Difference #1: – Solutions that create change

We don’t just spend your sessions talking about your feelings, problems or past issues. We teach you how to change. We’ve endlessly heard from clients who have spent hundreds of dollars on counselling sessions, only to feel worse when they leave because all they did was ‘roll in the mud’ of what was going wrong in their lives.

It can be important to talk about how we’re feeling, so we don’t ignore your feelings, however we teach you to understand how to alleviate those feelings with practical methods that teach you how to think and feel differently when faced with life’s challenges. We educate you on how to alleviate stress, depression, anxiety, guilt, anger, resentment and more so that they no longer have to dominate your life

Difference #2: – Access to our online programs

In your very first sessions we will get a clear understanding of what’s happening for you and the change you wish to create, and we will create a plan that includes learning from our online programs. We will either allocate certain videos for you to watch, or put you on an online program where you can learn the information you need to change.

This is a fantastic way to teach you the skills you need without endless sessions teaching you theory. You learn in your time, then we’ll iron out your sticking points in our session times.

The best part is, access to these programs comes at no additional fee!

Difference #3: – Summary of your session

Have you ever left a counselling/coaching session and forgotten everything that was discussed and be left with very little idea on what you need to do to change? You were all inspired after finishing, and then had no idea how to maintain that feeling moments later.

That won’t happen with our sessions. Every session is recorded for you (unless you tell us otherwise), and sent to you to keep forever, and we will email you a summary of your session, outlining your homework for the week. That way you can remind yourself throughout the week, what you’re needing to work on.

Meet our coaches/counsellors

Michelle Flanigan and Jackie Hall will help make your parenting experience smoother.

About Michelle Flanigan

Michelle is our senior life coach/counsellor and takes on the majority of our clients. Michelle primarily works with new parents and parents with children up to the age of 10. Michelle is an experienced and qualified counsellor with a degree in psychology and counselling, as well as a mum with three children. Here’s Michelle’s story…

In 2013 I found myself completely overwhelmed by parenting. I had 2 toddlers, I was pregnant and I found myself sobbing on the bathroom floor because I just didn’t feel like I could cope anymore.

I went to see my doctor and was diagnosed with perinatal depression. All my life I had dreamed of being a Mum and here I was feeling like I was totally failing at it! I thought being a Mum would be the most natural thing in the world. I thought it would just be another role to learn and master, just like everything else I’d done in my life, but here I was struggling instead.

I had 3 kids, aged 4 and under and I felt completely consumed by motherhood. I was out of patience, yelling at my kids and beating myself up for being such a bad Mum. After all, I was qualified in psychology and counselling. I thought that I would automatically be able to get myself back on track, but things just kept consuming me.

Then I found Jackie Hall and her Happy Mum Handbook program. I joined immediately because I knew I needed to find my inner Happy Mum. I had to learn to stop getting so reactive to the kids, to stop beating myself up when I got angry or frustrated and to stop feeling like a failure!

That program completely changed the way I viewed parenting and more importantly it changed the way I viewed myself! I started to feel more confident in my parenting and finally felt like I was able to handle the inevitable challenges of being a parent.

I went on to do the 28 day Tame Your Temper Parenting Challenge and had a closer look at just why I got so reactive to the kids. I was hooked on the PSC programs and so I volunteered with the Parental Stress Centre for 6 months, participating in all of Jackie’s programs, immersing myself in the PSC ethos, and supporting parents who were also learning how to change too.

I knew very quickly, that my next goal was to give back! I became an official employee have spent the last 3 years as the PSC’s senior parental coach and counsellor.

During this time I have supported thousands of parents in our online programs and Live seminars. I have helped all of our members work through their programs and I’ve worked with clients one-on-one to apply what we teach to their lives, so they can feel happier, more confident and to make their parenting experience everything they wanted it to be.

Am I perfect? No. Just like Jackie always says: “Nothing you learn from the PSC is written from a pedestal of perfection”. Parenting is tough and everyone experiences it in different ways. I love to help parents identify what is holding them back and help them use the PSC teachings to get back on track to their parenting ideals.

I am passionate about helping parents to manage their emotional health, just like I had to, and I will offer a very supportive, non-judgemental environment to learn how to make your family life the positive experience we want it to be.

About Jackie Hall

Jackie is the founder of the Parental Stress Centre of Australia. Because Jackie runs the live webinars and manages the support groups as part of her online programs, her availability is limited. Jackie takes on clients who are parents of pre-teens, teenagers, couples and other clients by selection only.

I know how you feel – that cycle of loving parenthood, hating parenthood and every emotion in between. The feelings of anger, guilt, self-criticism, don’t know who you are anymore and the desperation to get back to some sort of normality.

I have been there. I have felt every one of those feelings, and I have learnt how to STOP them. In essence, I have had to walk my talk….and still do!

Over the last 10 years, I have counselled thousands of parents and other clients, and created numerous educational products to teach you how to stop the emotions that consume a lot of parents.

But sometimes you just need that more intimate, one-on-one support to customise this information and tailor it directly to your personal life experiences..

My name is Jackie Hall and I am a 5-time author and the founder of The Parental Stress Centre. I am a qualified counsellor who has worked with thousands of parents for 10 years. I have trained in retreats working with clients experiencing severe depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol addictions, as well as delivered workshops to thousands of parents all around Australia.

One thing that I hear from my clients over and over again, is that they have already tried many different mental health therapies with little or no change. Many complain that they only seem to continue to rehash the events of their past but are presented with no real solutions on how to handle the present.

Our clients often express that they have learnt more a one hour session with me than they have in years of therapy. With years of working with people endlessly, I have learn to cut through to the core of what’s triggering your stress very quickly, so you can understand why it makes perfect sense that stress or depression is in your life .

After that I will spend the rest of our time teaching you how to change and adopt new tools to think and feel differently so you can become the happy parent and person you’re aiming to be.

In fact, I guarantee, that if you don’t get anything out of our sessions, you can have your money back.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you run your sessions?

Each session is typically held via gotowebinar.com (an online service – free to you – where we can show you visuals of the information we are teaching), via skype or by telephone.

Furthermore, sessions can be booked to fit in with your schedule, whether it be between work hours, school hours, your child’s sleep times or when you bribe them with chocolate and videos. You don’t have to even leave the comfort of your home. Come to your sessions in your PJ’s if you want!

All sessions are recorded and emailed to you after the session for you to keep forever (unless you advise us you do not wish for it to be recorded). Please note that recordings are never used for any marketing purposes and are for your benefit only.

How do I know this will work for me?

The methods we use at the PSC are a combination of tools and strategies condensed into easy to use processes. Our methods have helped thousands of people to end their depression, anxiety, addictions, and stress related disorders and are adapted from many years of studying, applying on ourselves and our clients, and using them in workshops and live online programs over the last 10 years.

The main premise of this method is to educate you on the specific thinking that lies behind all stress, depression and anxiety, how this applies to you and your life, and most importantly, how you can change this thinking on your own without having to rely on your ‘therapist’ whenever life doesn’t go to plan.

Based on scientific, cognitive research, these methods give you the specific tools you can apply to ANY situation that occurs in your life and will empower YOU with the information you need to change.

We guarantee (or your money back) that we will teach you the tools to change your life and stop your stress, but as always, the application of these tools will be what brings you results, which is essentially up to you. Don’t worry, however, we will always support you with lots of different exercises (homework), tools and support to help you to apply this information and get that experiential understanding of this method needed to make those changes.

Why are you qualified to help me?

Everything you learn from the Parental Stress Centre and its staff is based on the principles Jackie Hall teaches in her books, online programs, webinars and live workshops.

Jackie Hall started her obsession with personal development as a teenager. Every book about understanding the mind/body connection that she could get her hands on, she was determined to devour. She has lived and breathed personal development for over 20 years! In her early 20s she did numerous national and international workshops, where she trained in their techniques and assisted in the facilitation of personal development programs, learning their structures and techniques.

She spent 3 years working for two retreats, specialising in severe depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol addictions, running workshops and working one-on-one with clients to help them turn their lives around. Her dedication is also backed by formal qualifications too, having completed her Diploma in Counselling.

Jackie has worked with parents all over Australia, running workshops with over 5,000 parents over three years and worked with thousands more clients through our live online programs over the last 10 years.

All staff who work with our clients, are comprehensively trained personally by Jackie Hall and have proven that they are walking their own talk. All counsellors and life coaches are qualified and are parents themselves who can relate to the challenges of parenting, and helping themselves to alleviate their own stress and work with their child’s behaviours.

Because we can fully relate to how you are feeling and how hard it is to change, it is with this understanding and empathy that we know we can help you to fully recover from the emotional rollercoaster you are on right now.

And if we can’t help you, then we will gladly refund your money. We are here to help, not take money if we’re not able to teach you what you need to learn.

So what now?

If you like what you’ve read and you want to start getting help and changing your life, please choose your session options below and we will contact you to set up a convenient time to start your sessions.

If you still have questions, simply email me at info@parentalstress.com.au and introduce yourself. From here we can work out the best plan for you and your specific situation.

How many sessions will I need?

You can have as many, or as little as you like. We do recommend that you start out with at least 4 weekly sessions to begin with, as this will give you the fundamentals for change. Just four sessions will give you a thorough understanding of your unique stress, depression and/or anxiety and why it makes sense that you have it (actually you’ll know after 2 sessions) and the next 2 sessions will give you the tools to change and stop your stress, depression and anxiety for good.

After your initial 4 sessions, you can either decide to stop or continue on weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions to go even further in depth with your learning.

If you sign up to 4 or more sessions, your sessions include:

  • A weekly one-on-one session (1 hour long)
  • Session is recorded and emailed to you
  • Session summary emailed after each session
  • Access to relevant videos or information for you to watch to teach you what you’re learning and how to apply it
  • All handouts and materials to remind you of the methods used (they will be emailed to you)
  • Diagrams that help you to understand your stress, depression and/or anxiety
  • A free PDF copy of The 28 Day Scream Free Parenting Challenge
  • A free PDF copy of The Happy Mum Handbook

Of course, you can just have a one-off casual session to start if you would just like to test the waters and see how we can help you specifically.

Money back guarantee policy – If we can’t teach you anything new or helpful, then we will refund your money, and you can keep all materials.
